Just got a chance to read the Limbaugh article in depth.

My reaction: Do we expect that Russert is going to ask the hard questions and then also provide the easy answers? All of those things that Limbaugh said in rebuttal to Russert, Condi could have said.

How about a: "Well, Tim, there you go again."

Ronald Reagan faced a media that was twice as hostile, and he had no back up from Fox News, the conservative blogosphere or talk radio. Reagan did it by sheer grit, intelligence, confidence in what he believed, good humor, good nature and stamina.

Conservatives need to get tough and stop whining. We always say we are the party of ideas, let's get out there and articulate our ideas.

One more thing: I am not saying that the MSM is not left-leaning. Obviously, they are left-leaning. Why do we constantly treat that fact as a news story? That is not dog bites man; it is the same old same old.

Yes. They are left-leaning. They are trying to destroy the Bush administration. An alarming number of the MSM are willing to contribute to a disaster in Iraq so that they can prove that they really are a lot smarter than Bush.

Okay. Forewarned is forearmed. Get your game face on. Stay true to what you believe. And just win, baby.

We control every branch of government. We have an incredible infrastructure of think tanks and intelligent conservatives constantly writing and speaking. A majority of Americans lean our way. It is never going to get better than this for us.

We are silly to waste time blaming the MSM for the vicissitudes of life.

Conservatives preach accountability. Let's be accountable and self-sustaining.

Your points are well taken. We do miss the Gipper. However, I don't think the war is over yet. On the one side, I want to keep telling the MSM that we see through them. Perhaps it might keep them from slipping into an even more partisan mode. On the other side, I still deal with a lot of people who do not read the blogosphere, do not watch cable news, and have jobs that prevent them from listening to Rush et al. What news they get is gotten from the MSM. I need a continual supply of examples to offer folks as to why they need to seek out alternative media.

What I think I hear you saying is that we need to keep charging the MSM with being biased because 1) they are; 2) people need to be reminded; and 3) it is part of an overall strategy.

Is this tantamount to a good basketball coach working the refs? Working for the next call by challenging the current one?

If this is your point, I agree that it is essential to keep challenging the MSM. Very good. On the other hand, we should not confuse strategy with reality and our mission and what is within in our sphere of responsibility. If the b-ball analogy is a good one, a good coach, who works the refs throughout the game, knows that the teams who make the clutch plays down the stretch win games, regardless of the officiating.

Our failures are our failures, and they have little to do with media bias. We need to win on the court and stop worrying about the refs.

To take your basketball analogy: you address the team--suck it up and don't whine about calls; I address the refs--working the refs in your image; and I address the crowd--I want them looking at the replays on the screen and getting in a lather against the refs.
